Weekend Recap - Family Tailgating Party

We had an okay weekend. It would have been much better if Bobby and I hadn't been struck by the stomach bug! For me, it started Saturday night around 9pm. Bob had just gotten home from a neighborhood party (see below...), and I headed straight to bed complaining of an upset stomach. Well, I groaned in pain for a good 4 hours, before I finally got sick! It was bad, and lasted another hour or so. Thankfully, it wasn't as bad as the last time I had the stomach bug; but, it still sucked. We had no idea Bobby had it too, until Bob went into his room Sunday morning. The poor little guy had vomited all over his crib, but never made a peep. We are both feeling better today, but not quite 100%.

Thankfully, I had bought these for all of my toilets during my last grocery trip:

Ha!

But, aside from that mess, we had a good weekend. On Friday, for the second week straight, I again had a little happy hour with my girlfriends in the neighborhood. We met at my friend Claire's house, and fed the kids dinner. It was so nice out, and we enjoyed feeding the kids, and having some wine on the patio. Bobby played really well with the other munchkins. We are thinking of making this a weekly tradition, since Claire is moving back to England in December. Boo.

On Saturday, Bob was again stuck doing some work for a certification. I ran errands while Bobby napped. Afterwards, I took him and Winston for a long walk. We then headed to a family-oriented tailgating party in our neighborhood. My friend Brooke organized it. Everyone brought their own BYOB, and a side dish or dessert. Brooke's husband set up two screens and projectors. There were a couple of bounce houses for the kids too. We had a good time. Too bad our Gators lost, yet again! Bobby was ready for bed shortly after our game started, so I headed home. Bob was able to stay and enjoy (or rather, not enjoy) our game with the neighbors.

I stole these pictures from my friend Lexy's Facebook page...

Well, as you can imagine, the rest of our weekend was spent recovering from Saturday night's debacle. Bob took care of Bobby all day yesterday, so I could catch up on my sleep from the previous night. I'm so thankful for such a helpful and loving husband!

Hope you had a great weekend too, and an even better week ahead!

Game Talk

Bobby and Drew had a very riveting conversation while watching the SEC Championship on Saturday.

I was lucky enough to overhear the entire thing!

Drew: Give me a high five! Alabama just scored again!
Bobby: Ugh...ok, fine. But, I'm not getting up to do this!

Bobby: Dude, I'm telling you! Tebow is my uncle! I swear. He taught me how to do push-ups. See?
Drew: Man, I just don't believe you. Sheesh!

Drew: There, there, Bobby.... It's ok. You guys will score again.

Bobby: See? My head IS bigger than yours! Just like Tebow's!

Drew: Bobby, Bobby! Look at this! I got your toy! Dang it Bobby, pay attention to meeeee!!! Stop watching the TV!

My 31st Birthday

We celebrated my 31st this past weekend. My birthday was yesterday, and it felt like a nice three-day weekend for me!

We really didn't start the festivities until Sunday, with the big SEC Championship game being on Saturday. Bob's parents came into town for the weekend, and it was great to have them here. They arrived on Sunday morning, just as Bob and I sat down to a nice big breakfast of pancakes and bacon. Later, Bob took me shopping, and I was able to add to my winter wardrobe. After moving from FL last year, and being pregnant during the winter, I had nothing! After an afternoon of shopping, we headed out to a nice restaurant for dinner.

On Monday, my actual birthday, Bob had to work, unfortunately. But, Bob Sr. and Joye stayed in town, and made my birthday fantastic! Seriously, it would have been kind of lame if it had been a normal Monday. We met Bob for lunch, and then headed out to do some more shopping. After we got home, Joye and I headed out the door, and got mani's and pedi's. My mother-in-law spoiled me!!! Thanks Joye for truly making my birthday a good one this year!

Here are a couple of pictures while having cake and opening presents...

Excuse my double chin... the holiday weight is already starting to pack on! I am a major Type A personality, so a Label Maker, as a gift, was perfect!!!

Gators back at #1

Yikes! Saturday night's game was a nail biter! I missed the Arkansas game, due to having to work... thankfully! I'm sure it was just as stressful to watch too. I think I actually was put in a bad mood while watching us barely scrape by against Mississippi State. I must be turning into my dad! Ha ha! And, the fight on the field before the half ended? That is not us! We are classy.

Anyhow, we are now back at #1 in both the AP and BCS polls. We are lucky. Remember this call during the game? It wasn't the first bad call to go our way either.

C'mon Gators! Get up and GO!!!

On another note...

We had a pretty good weekend! I worked again on Saturday. Afterwards, we stopped by a neighbor's house for a football party. We were there for only a few minutes though. It was outdoors and close to Bobby's bedtime. On Sunday, we visited a new church. We definitely need to put Bobby in the nursery though. He is not one to sit still long, and Bob and I had to take turns holding him in the hallway. Afterwards, I went to my friend Amy's house to get schooled on coupons and saving money. I'll talk more about that later this week.

Have a great week!

Do Gators Fly?

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I've been in a blogging funk. Hopefully it will pass, or is passing, and you'll see more of what's going on with us. Or, just my own personal rants ;-)

We've had a busy past few weeks. First, our friend Mike Cooley came to stay with us while he was in town for work. After he left, Bob's parents came for a quick visit. And, after they left, Bobby's eight cousins all came to see him for the first time. I will blog more about that soon. It was wonderful seeing everyone! I think Bobby was entertained by all of his cousins. He sat in his bouncy seat, looking around at them for most of the time. Maybe this is why it's easier to have the 2nd, 3rd, etc... child? Who knows? Anyhow, Bob and I were joking around yesterday and we stated that Hotel Ross is closed for the month of August! I think we've had more days of people staying with us, then alone, since Bobby's arrival. Crazy, right?

Last week, Bobby also had his first cold. It was not bad at all. It started with his cry sounding a bit raspy, and then he had a stuffy nose, and some coughing. Little Noses Saline got rid of the stuffy nose, and a humidifier took care of everything else. Now, the new thing is his pooping! He is only pooping every 4 days or so. I am guessing he's just become an infrequent stooler (nice, huh?) due to his formula intake. I am slowly transitioning a little bit of formula into his diet. We've already tried two different brands, and seem to have found one that is working for us. He takes after his dad, and has a sensitive tummy. We are using Similac Sensitive. It seems to be doing fine, with the exception of his lack of bowel movements. The pediatrician says some babies only poop once a week! So, I guess we'll see if it gets better or worse.

Oh, and do Gators fly?

Bobby fell asleep yesterday in his bouncy seat. If you are familiar with newborns, you know they can startle quite easily. Well, he heard a noise and raised his arms like that, as a reflex. It's actually called the Moro Reflex. He slept like this with his arms up for a couple of minutes so I could snap a picture. Too funny, right?!?! Anyhow, daddy dressed Bobby yesterday, and of course, he put him in a Gator onesie. This was given to us by a friend, Lindsey Adams. Thanks Lindsey, we love it! Besides, we can't wait for the season to start September 5th!

One last thing, Happy Belated Birthday to my beautiful sister! I wish I could have been there to celebrate with you. And, your gift is going to be late! (everything is, these days). :-) Also, Happy Belated Anniversary to my wonderful parents-in-law. Love all you guys!

Monday, Monday

We've had a busy past few weeks here in the Ross household. First, Bob's aunt and uncle from Maryland came for a visit. It was great to spend time with them. The last time we saw Deed and Marna was at our wedding, and it was way too hectic to really spend time with them.

Then, the very next day, my parents came back to visit for the week. It was great having them here again, and a lot less stressful this time around. I have some pictures to upload from their visit, plus Bobby's first play date with his friend Drew.

Until then...

As of this coming Sunday, there is only 3 months until football season starts! I always start anticipating it when it gets really HOT during the summer. I grew up with college football every Saturday in my parents' house. I can just smell the boiled peanuts now.

Go Gators!

Of course, everyone knows the SEC is the toughest conference out there!

I'll post some pictures soon...

What happened?

What happened to our dear Gators yesterday? And, of all the teams to lose to, it had to be Michigan!?! Let's hope that 2008's season is a bit brighter than this past one.

Tim Tebow did win the Heisman though...so I suppose we can't complain too much!

Now...on to basketball season.
