Blogging Problems!!!

I tried for the second time in a few weeks today to finish our trip recap. Yes, I know...better late than never. However, the annoying Blogger God is not allowing me to upload pictures! I really hope it has something to do with me doing this at work, instead of at home.

So, instead, I will just fill you in on what's been going on with us. We are in the process of moving this week! Finally, our house is almost done. We have our final walk-thru tomorrow morning. I am living in complete chaos (which is not good for my mental state), and I must keep reminding myself that it is due to our EXCITING move.

Bob celebrated his 30th birthday on Thursday of last week too! I will have to definitely give him a proper post on his birthday. His parents and sister drove over from Atlanta to surprise him for lunch. Then, his parents drove back to Atlanta to drop of Jo, and turned around to come back for the birthday dinner surprise I planned for him. It was a fun night, with a great turn-out. No pictures though...can you believe that? It is my fault. I didn't think to bring our camera, thinking Bob's dad would have that covered. Grrr....I'm still very annoyed with myself. You only turn 30 once!

Anyhow, this blog has taken a backseat the past few weeks, and after our move, I am hoping to get back on track. We'll see though...we have the holidays upon us! Yikes!!!

We are closing on our house!

Enough said. Apartment living sucks.

Almost settled...

Ok, we are in our new apartment. We've been in Birmingham for 4 days now, and our furniture was delivered this morning. We can now finally get settled. It's been a mix of excitement and boredom for me the past few days. The drive up was not too bad, and rather pretty along some roads. We did a lot of exploring and got caught up on some much needed sleep over the weekend. Bob started his new job on Monday. He seems to really like it a lot, and is definitely keeping busy. I have tried to keep myself busy, but I think I will be now for the rest of the week unloading and unpacking. The job hunt starts next week. Thus far, I've found a few positions online that seem appealing. I have to update my resume. I know it will be easy, but for some reason, I hate doing that kind of stuff. Winston is doing well too. I think he's happy as long as he's walked daily. I do feel badly for him though, and I can't wait for us to be in a house. 

Speaking of houses...I've found some great neighborhoods. We really would love new construction, but like Florida, all the new homes are in cookie cutter neighborhoods. We've found a few subdivisions, where the homes are 10 or so years old (not too bad). Either way, we have a 7 month lease, so we've got plenty of time.

I can't wait to get situated though and organized. Now to some unpacking!

3 More Days

Just a quick update - we are moving in 3 days!

Our house is all packed up, minus the belongings we are taking in our car. The heat down here is unbearable right now, especially while trying to pack. I hope Birmingham is less humid. I am excited to get this move out of the way though. As my friend Rachel stated, "moving is like ripping off a band-aid, you just want it done fast." And to think, we have to do it all again in another 7 months! Well, at least we have about 1/2 our stuff already in storage.

Anyhow, I'll start posting more I'm sure. Life's been crazy for us. We seriously have had one free weekend in about 2 months. No complaints though, it keeps life interesting :)

Frustration Nation!

Ok, I'm sitting here watching American Pie with the hubby, and finally witnessing some rain here! It has been so horribly dry here lately, and this storm is a welcomed relief! I'm sure you've heard about the brush fires here lately.

This is how we typically spend our Sunday late afternoons/early evenings. We are both vegging out on the couch, watching a movie, and playing on our laptops. Oh, and we can't forget Winston, he's laying at my feet. I made a great chicken casserole dinner tonight too - yummy!

I'm frustrated right now, because we had a "no show" today with looking at our house as a rental. I'm no idiot, I know we're going to get interesting people here (we had one yesterday!) and a lot of flaky people (today!) But, this lady seemed really nice in her emails, and she even called this morning to postpone her appointment. And, after waiting for an hour and half, I finally changed into my bathing suit, and headed out to the pool for some trashy girl novel time. She just wasn't going to come. Anyhow, the good thing that came out of these appointments, is that we CLEANED our house all day yesterday, decluttered, and even started packing. I think the reality of moving is starting to sink in.

Please pray for us, or send us some good thoughts, if that's not up your alley....we'll need it. We are asking for responsible, kind, and caring tenants. Oh, and thank goodness, it is FINALLY raining! Our lawn is pathetic - lol!!!

Forrest Gump!

Bob and I are moving to Forrest Gump's home state - Alabama!

Yup, it's official, in about 4 weeks, we will be Alabamians... This decision took almost two weeks, and wow, it was hard! But, this is a great opportunity for Bob's career, and definitely a step in the right direction for him...well, us, actually! Bob was offered a promotion, and I must admit, I'm so proud of him. Is my husband ever going to stop impressing me? Probably not... :)

Ok, so we have A LOT to do over the next few weeks, so any help is appreciated. My last day at my job is May 30th. Once we get settled, I'll start looking for a job. Oh, and I'm OBSESSED, I mean OBSESSED!!! with this neighborhood in Hoover (a suburb outside of the 'Ham).

I'll probably look at the site after I'm done here. Isn't that neighborhood the coolest? Plus, it's called "Ross Bridge!" I think it's meant to be, and I hope we can move there. We'll rent for a few months though first, depending on our house here in Florida selling or being rented out.

On a sad note, I am really bummed about leaving my family and friends. I'm going to miss my sister like a maniac, and my mama too. Luckily, Southwest flies to Birmingham, and we will definitely be back and forth a lot.

Oh, and I totally got a bikini wax today for the first time. My friend Tova gave me a gift certificate to her waxing salon as a birthday present. I made her go with me. It was interesting, but not nearly as bad as I had anticipated. I would recommend it....be open to some new changes :) I know we are.
