Our Labor Day Weekend

We had a pretty jam-packed holiday weekend this year. The end of summer was pretty lazy for us, for the most part. But, things have picked up again. While we had a hint of Fall in the weather this past weekend, the high temperatures have returned this week. I am hoping though, for only a short reprieve. I will however, get use of our neighborhood pool these next few weeks. It closes October 3rd, and I'm sure I'll be missing it this winter!

Onto our weekend...

I mentioned in my last post that we would not be running in our neighborhood's 8k race this year. I had to work that day, and we just didn't want to spend the extra money to enter it. However, when we awakened to weather in the low 6o's that morning, we knew we had to run! Seriously, the race started at 8am, and we decided to run in it at 7:45am. So, Bob threw on his running clothes, and headed to the start line to register us. I was in a frenzy to get myself and Bobby dressed, and give us bananas for breakfast. We were at the start line just long enough to shoot this picture with my phone, before we were off! We did pretty well, and finished the race in just over 47 minutes.

What is the guy behind Bob wearing?!?!

Now, backing up to Friday - {I'm really just to lazy to rearrange my pictures}...

We started off the weekend right, with a Happy Hour in our neighborhood park. This is the fourth one the neighbors have done, and it really is a fun way to start the weekend. Everyone either meets at the park, or on someone's porch (or two) and hangs out. It's a great way for the adults to socialize and relax, and the kids to play. We busted out the wagon, filled up the cooler, grabbed Winston, and walked to the park. The party ended at sunset, and we headed on home.

The cooler was filled with our favorite seasonal beer, Sam Adams' Octoberfest. Yum!

We also got some nice walks in this weekend. Isn't Bobby adorable with his straw cup?

After I got off work on Saturday, we drove over to Bob's parents' house in Peachtree City. The next day, we went to Senoia, which is a small town about 25 miles south of Atlanta. It is absolutely adorable, quaint, and pretty. The town even had it's own version of the "Hollywood Walk of Stars." Check out below for two of my favorite movies filmed in Senoia. There is also a Lifetime show, called Drop Dead Diva that is currently being filmed there.

We had a delicious lunch while visiting, and did some sight-seeing. We also stumbled across an estate sale at an old, historical home. I picked up a copy of my favorite book, Gone with the Wind. The book was not a First Edition, but was a reprint from 1936 (which was the year the book was published). Can anyone tell me what edition this is? While it may not be worth much, it might be some day. And, I only paid $15.00 for it. I also found a piece of paper in the book with a bunch of quotes on it, dated in 1941. Pretty cool, right?

Finally, our last adventure that day, was a trip to Southern Living's Idea House. While I took nearly 75 photos while in the house, I'll only spare you with a couple of my favorite features.

I loved this storage solution for under a staircase!

How cute is this nursery?

If you happen to be my friend on Facebook, check out the entire album there!

Overall, we had a fantastic time! We finished the weekend with dinner at our neighbor's house last night. I hope you enjoyed your Labor Day weekend, as much as we did ours!

Unfortunately for us, we will be missing this year's race, held tomorrow.
Better luck next time!
