Thanksgiving 2009

We had a great Thanksgiving this year. It was special because it was Bobby's First Thanksgiving!

We headed to Peachtree City to spend the holiday with Bob's family. There were about 20 people there for dinner, and it was very yummy!

We then left Bobby with Grandma and Grandpa and headed out to see The Blind Side. The movie was awesome. It was the perfect way to end the day, and a great, sentimental movie. It is based on a true story, and was quite the tearjerker for me.

The rest of the weekend was spent with Bob's extended family, and mine (pictures to come). It was very relaxing (aside from Bobby's sleeping issues). The Gators beat Florida State on Saturday, and we left to come home on Sunday.

Bobby playing with his folded napkin before dinner began.

As you can see from the pictures below, Bobby did not last thru the meal. It was too cute!

Grandpa blocking the sun from Bobby. We ate in the sun room, which is full of windows and plants.

Bobby looked like a little sock monkey, so it was only appropriate for him to have it that day!

I'll update the rest of our weekend soon, along with Bobby's 7 month birthday stats!

I hope everyone has a great week. I was pretty productive today... I ordered some gifts online (it was yucky and rainy all day!), and took down our Fall decorations. We also had Kindermusik class this morning.

Decorating Dilemma

Goodbye Fall decorations...

Hello Christmas decorations! Well, kind of...

I am one of those people that strongly believe Christmas decorations should not be put up until after Thanksgiving. However, we did decide to get our stuff out of the attic today. Last year, I was pregnant (aka lazy), and we were not here for Christmas, so we did not put up a tree. We won't be here for Christmas this year, or next, but because it is Bobby's first Christmas, we are definitely decorating. Our tree we used in FL is 9 ft. tall. We had cathedral ceilings in our old house. Well, our tree simply does not fit in this house. So, we took the bottom off, and it is now just a few inches below 7'. It is a bit smaller than I wanted, but it will work. Now, we certainly don't have a lot of decorations to begin with, being just married 2 years. But, we do have a bit. And, of course, during our move, we lost some. Our tree stand and tree skirt happen to be some of the items missing. Luckily, my thrifty husband made an awesome homemade tree stand. I was quite impressed! Anyhow, we've already faced a few annoying challenges, and the decorating has not even really begun!

Christmas is definitely my most favorite holiday. But, as an adult, it stresses me out to no end. Am I the only one who feels this way?

What a Big Boy!

Somebody has transitioned to a high chair!

Can you guess who?

Bobby is such a great eater! Just this week, he responds to us saying "open your mouth." It is so cute, and it is amazing to see that he is associating words with actions now. We are almost done with vegetables, and will soon move to fruits. So far, he's had carrots, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, and green beans. He's pretty much liked everything, but will make faces with the green beans. I don't blame him, I'm not too big of a fan either. He will eat everything though. Tomorrow, we will try peas.

Random Updates

1. Bobby is surprising us each day with something new! This morning, he basically fed himself with his bottle. I had to help him for most of it, but by the end (when it wasn't so heavy); he was holding it and feeding himself! We are going to set up his high chair this weekend.

I am going to introduce a sippy cup soon. So, mom's... what brand do you recommend?

2. Bob and I went to a get-together last night with his triathlon club here in Birmingham. We went to a fun bar/restaurant called the Rogue Tavern. It was a nice bar, and catered to the 30 something crowd. I probably had a bit more to drink than I should have, but it was so worth it! I had a blast, and it was fun to have a date with my hubby, and our friends. (And, no, I did not have to drive home!)

The best part was watching the Fabio look-alike in the band. This guy couldn't get enough of himself! When the band was on a break, and there was music playing, he was onstage alone, lip synching! Oh man, where is the Flip camera when you need it?!?!

3. I worked out this week, and I am hoping that it helps with my knee problem. My workouts weren't too intense, since I have been on a break. I am going to attempt a short run today. Hopefully I'm on the road to recovery!

4. Christmas is around the corner, and I am so excited to spend it in Orlando! I can't wait for my family to see how much Bobby has grown. I am excited to be at my parents' house Christmas Eve and morning. I haven't had a Christmas morning with them in 5 years! I am also so excited to meet my best friend's daughter, who will most likely be just days old while we are there!

5. TGIF!!! Yay!

Flashback Friday

Here I am in my preschool picture, stylin' with some cool barrettes and OshKosh overalls!

What a Pain!

As I mentioned previously, I am signed up to run the Mercedes Half Marathon on February 14th. If all goes well, I'll be lucky if I can run at least half of it! I have been nursing a knee problem now for several weeks. My IT Band has caused me to have great pain on the outside of my right knee while running. I have taken a lot of time off from running, and am now currently doing short distances (1-2 miles), and doing intervals of running and walking. I am only doing this a couple of times a week. I also ice it, heat it, stretch it, massage it, and take Ibuprofen daily. I am also running in new shoes. Still, nothing seems to be working. The stretches are ones used by my husband, while he did physical therapy last year for his IT Band. The only thing I am not doing, which would probably help a great deal is cross-training. My running mojo has vanished, and so has my working out mojo. I did workout a little bit last week, and am hoping to do more this week. I need to get back on track!

Sorry to be such a whiner in this post. But, I wanted to update ya'll on my training, or lack thereof. Please say a prayer for me! I'd love to be healed, and back to my running soon :-) Also, say one for Bob. He's currently unable to run too, due to an injury (which is still yet to be determined).

Flashback Friday

Oh how I wish my hair was still that naturally blonde!

This is my grandmother and I at Jacksonville Beach. I'm not too sure of my age, but I'm guessing around 3ish? Mom, do you know?

Recent Pictures

These pictures were taken within the past two weeks by Bob's dad. I love Bobby's expression in all of them.

May 4th, 2009 - My 2nd time to hold Bobby...

Here is video of Bobby and I, on May 4th, 2009. This was the day I was discharged from the hospital. He remained there, in the NICU for 8 more days after this was taped. I held Bobby for the first time the night he was born. I was doped up, and could barely keep him in my arms. We had to wait 4 days for me to hold him again. It was the longest wait ever! If you can stand to watch the entire thing (I thought I had uploaded the shorter version), you'll hear us talk about him having brown eyes, instead of blue. We were totally wrong there! Ha! This was filmed with Bob's sister's Flip camera. We finally got it imported onto our computer this weekend, once we had our own Flip camera (we needed the software to do so...).

Enjoy!

Happy Birthday Bob!

Bob's 31st (whoa!) birthday was yesterday. His parents bought him the new HD Flip video camera. Here is our first video with it!

Hopefully you'll see a lot more videos on the blog :-)

Snapshot Saturday

Since I missed Flashback Friday, I figured I'd do Snapshot Saturday (which I've seen on a few other blogs).

UCF (my alma mater) is playing Texas today. Here is a picture from my Bachelorette party in 2007. My friends and I are hanging out in a local bar in Savannah, watching that very same match-up. We ended our day here (before going out that night), after sight-seeing all day, and eating at Lady and Sons for lunch.

That was definitely a fun-filled weekend!

Old Blue Eyes

Just kidding on the old part...

But, I think the verdict is in... this baby boy is going to have blue eyes! This is a big deal for us, because we are both brown-eyed.

Too Darn Cute!

Six Months Old

"Look at me...

I have something to smile about...

I'm 6 Months Old!"

Bobby turned Six months old on October 30, 2009.

Weight: 16.8 lbs. (Full-term: 50%, 34 weeks: 75%)
Length: 25.5 inches (Full-term: 25%, 34 weeks: 50%)

Sorry for the delay on his sixth month post, but I wanted to wait until we had our 6 month appointment. As you can see from his percentile's (in comparison to his 4 month check-up, his growth has slowed down).

Sleeping Patterns: Bobby's taken a turn for the better regarding his sleeping issues. He sleeps 11-13 hours a night. He goes to bed around 7pm. And, finally, I feel confident that his napping issues have been resolved too. He is taking on average, 3 naps a day. If he happens to wake up in the middle of the night, he will normally fall back asleep within a few minutes.

Eating Habits: Bobby normally drinks 4 bottles a day, averaging between 8-8.5 oz. each. He eats solids twice a day. He is a great eater!

New discoveries & Accomplishments: Bobby has pretty much done the same things as last month, but does them better. He rolls over all the time, and will now hang out on his stomach while lifting up his head. He sits great up, and does not need too much of my support. In this area though, our pediatrician says he is still lagging a bit behind. He has hit all of the developmental milestones for a 6th month old, except sitting up. He sits up, and leans forward on his hands a bit. He has just started doing this, and it is normally done at 5 months. Other than that, we are right on track! He laughs all the time! And, is much more verbal. He is definitely starting to make sounds too. He seems to have mellowed out a bit (he was a bit high maintenance) :-). He is really into all the games we play with him each day. We play "Munchkin Pancake," "Belly CPR," "Stomp the Yard," and "Thunder Thighs!" Of course these are all silly games Bob and I have come up with. I sing to him a lot too.

Places you love: Playing on the floor with his toys, his bouncy seat (not sure how much longer he'll fit!), watching Baby Einstein videos, rocking on the front porch, playing on mommy and daddy's bed, taking baths, taking walks (he now faces forward in his stroller; no more car seat!), getting kisses from Winston, reading in his glider, the Jumparoo, and both of his Exersaucers (yes, we have two!), the park (we now swing!), and his Kindermusik class. He also loves to watch football - ha ha!

Special Friends: The same crew!

Current Events: Politics as usual: health care reform debate, pulling/adding troops in Afghanistan, like/dislike for our current Administration; Gators are still undefeated and ranked #1, World Series (Yankees are currently over the Phillies), and Christmas decorations are already out!

What We did This Day: Not too much... we hung around the house, and waited for Grandma and Grandpa Ross to arrive here for a visit!
