Flashback Friday

This picture was taken the week of our wedding. My dad is very sentimental about certain things, and wanted to have one last dinner with me, before I became a "Ross." My mom, sister, dad, and I went to Bonefish Grill, and had a great time. I remember my dad bragging to the waiter that I was getting married that weekend.

And, to those of you that have never seen my hair in it's natural state - yes, it is curly. I think my friends in Florida saw it curly a lot, because it did better with the humidity (weird, I know). I hardly ever wear it curly anymore...

A little dog hair won't hurt...

First of all, can I get a hellz yeah for babies in diapers? I mean, only diapers?!? I think it's so cute.

Anyhow, Bobby has a few drawers and cabinets in the kitchen that are open for exploring. He loves getting into the tupperware drawer. He'll often pull out a few containers. I am usually pretty good about rinsing them, or placing them in the dishwasher; depending on how dirty they become.

Well, evidently today, Bob brown-bagged his lunch (which I made), and there was dog hair all in the tupperware. I was cracking up laughing when he told me over the phone. I guess I was in a rush, and placed the dirty tupperware back in the drawer.

Poor Bob...

Mother's Helper

Mary Grace, age 6, and Bobby.

I had a mother's helper for a few days last week, and it was really nice. Mary Grace lives behind us, and she is in 1st grade. We also share the same birthday. Until she is done with school for the summer, she'll be coming over a couple of afternoons a week. She is still young, so I do still need to be close to her, as she plays with Bobby. I was able to do a few easy tasks, like clean the kitchen, or bathroom.

I remember being a mother's helper one summer for one of my mom's friends. This was my before my babysitting days started, and gave me a bit of experience. I believe I was around 11 or 12 years old. I would go swimming most afternoons with her kids, while she finished up on some chores. I think it's a great thing for girls to do, to gain some experience with babysitting.

While Mary Grace still needs plenty of supervision herself, Bobby loves having her here. He really enjoys playing with other kids, no matter their age. Let's hope I can steal her some this summer! :)

It All Makes Sense...

What, you might ask?

The incessant nightly coughing attacks, the random daytime coughing attacks, runny nose, sporadic sore throat, and feeling completely run-down by 10 am every day is due to...

Wait for it...

I have walking pneumonia! As mentioned yesterday, I've been sick for almost two weeks. I now have an understanding as to why I was not getting better. Bobby does not have it, thankfully - although, he needed some antibiotics to get better too. Seriously, in our house, we've had a stomach virus, flu, and now this; and he's not caught any of it! (Knock on wood.)

With a shot of b12 and a steroid today, I'm already feeling better. I've got my antibiotics, and Nasonex, and should be good to go soon!

(Also, if you wouldn't mind, please pray for my grandmother. She has had three heart attacks, within the past few days. Please pray that she recovers, and regains her strength. We are in a holding pattern right now, and waiting to see what will happen next. We will know by the end of the week, what the next step(s) are. Thank you!)

Our Happenings...

Bobby and I have the cold that never ends. Tomorrow will be two weeks for the little munchkin being sick. Thursday will be two weeks for me! I have only exercised twice in two weeks, and it has really affected my overall mood and energy level. We both have the exact same symptoms - cough and runny nose. Anyhow, I gave it the usual 7-10 days to run it's course, and we are still sick. Today, I call the doctor! Oh, and Bobby has a cough and decongestant syrup that he's been taking.

Bobby is now only drinking a morning bottle and nighttime bottle. We have started on whole milk, and everything is going great so far. Dropping the daytime bottles were easy, because he'd never know that he was supposed to have them, unless he saw them. He's also so accustomed to sitting in his high chair and eating regular meals. It'll take us awhile to fully transition to whole milk, as he was on sensitive formula, and our pediatrician does not recommend the switch cold turkey. I bought our last container of formula last week! I am happy to save the money, but it was bittersweet too. Bobby is drinking Horizon Organic Whole Milk with DHA. If you go to their website, you can print off a coupon!

We've got a busy week ahead! Aside from a few appointments, we have a baby play date here on Thursday (provided we are all healthy) and family coming into town this weekend. My cousin Paul, and his fiancee Monica will be visiting. Paul will be taking Bobby's one year pictures. If you're in the Atlanta area, he's a great photographer. Visit here to see more information. I also need to buy the last of the party supplies for Bobby's first birthday.

Lastly, Bob's big race is coming up in about 3 weeks! He is finally at the point where he can taper off his training, and I must admit, I'm happy! Our weekends have been hard, because I normally work Saturdays, and then he'll train on Sundays. I'm excited to have my husband back!

Also, I read a post yesterday, that brought me to tears. Please say a prayer for Amy and her husband over at Chapters. They lost a pup child (Cooper) this past weekend. My heart aches for them, because I know that a dog is like having a child of your own.

That's about all that is happening with us. I hope everyone has a good week!

Flashback Friday

Since I'm on major borrowed time (napping baby, brownies baking), and I don't feel like looking through pictures; I thought I'd link back to my very first Flashback Friday post. My first one was actually a completely different concept of what it has evolved into.

Check it out, and let me know what you think! Go here.

Classic

Last night, I went out to dinner with five of my closest friends. Claire, a beautiful redhead was amongst the bunch. Claire is from the UK, and we all drool over her accent. She tells us to have a lovely day. She talks about her wardrobe, instead of closet. And, she calls a fussy baby, a grizzly baby. Anyhow, you can see why we are all enamored with her! The English are just so much more classier than us Southerners. (Yikes, did I just call myself a Southerner?) Well, somehow in conversation, the acronym BFF was brought up. Claire innocently asks what it means. We tell her, "best friends forever." She then says, "oh my! I always thought it meant best f-ing friend!"

While I may not be dropping the f bomb very often, I do kinda like her interpretation better!

Classic.

I'd like to thank the Academy...

I mean, Shannon over at Webbisodes, for these fab awards!

Although it has taken me nearly a month to post my wonderful awards, I am still very thankful to receive them! This post has been on the back burner for awhile - but, it's only because I wanted to put some thought into it. Lately, my blogging has been non-existent, or on borrowed time. I really am trying to work on that! I can type out a post about Bobby in minutes flat, but accepting a blogging award is a whole other ball game.

So, when one receives an award in the blogosphere, what must they do? Here's the rundown:

- Thank and link the person that gave you the award,

- Pass this award onto 10 bloggers you've recently discovered and think are fantastic,

- Contact the winners and let them know they've won,

- State 10 things about yourself (what award doesn't involve some vanity?).

I'm going to change the rules a bit, and just list 10 blogs that I think are great! I know some will not post these awards on their own blog (i.e. my dad's blog), but they're still worthy of the recognition. Also, my contacting them will be this post! (Hey, a gal's gotta prioritize her time, right?)

1) Boots and Totty

2) Damica

3) Duffy's Commentary

4) The McCrystal's

5) All Things in Moddy

6) Chapters

7) The Wades

10) And, to my favorite private (or, soon to be) bloggers: Life with Our Boys, Simply Sotto, The Wilder Family... Life, Love, and Happiness, and The Harris Family).

Last but not least, my 10 Things About Me:

1) I am excited with the onset of each new season, except winter.
2) I feel as if I spend more time getting organized, rather than staying organized.
3) My running has improved tremendously within the past year; injury-prone and all.
4) I love my neighborhood, and will be sad if we ever move.
5) Reading before bedtime helps me sleep so much better.
6) I'm a Republican, and proud of it!
7) Sunny days motivate me.
8) Bobby is my alarm clock each morning.
9) Gigglefests with Bobby and Bob are cherished, treasured moments.
10) I cannot stand Lady GaGa.

Ok, well, there ya have it! If you want to know even more about me, check out my 100 Things About Me post way back from September 2008.

Baby Food... Be Gone!

I have an announcement to make...

We've banished baby food from this house!
(Well, at least until we have another baby down the road...) I couldn't be more excited, because it too, can make a dent in your pocket book. I truly did have all intentions of making Bobby's baby food, but it just never happened. Now, we are completely on table food. Or, as I call it "people food." (Again, there I go with another dog reference). I went shopping yesterday, and bought some cottage cheese, deli meat (with no preservatives), Yo Baby Yogurt, cheese, fruits, and vegetables, and a few Gerber Graduate toddler meals (I couldn't resist, they were 10/$10.00).

So mommies... do you have any other suggestions?

We obviously are still eating food that is soft, and easily chewable. I'd love some more options. I spent more than usual at the store (what an oxymoron!) because I kept putting new stuff in the cart for Bobby to try.

What a face! He's not so sure about his dinner.

Ground beef, cheese, and strawberries... dinner of Champions!

Aside from making adjustments to Bobby's cuisine, we've been pretty busy here. This week, I've got my running group meeting up twice, a Girl's Night Out planned for Wednesday, a doctor's appointment on Thursday, and the normal day to day activities. Bob has his Tuesday night ride tonight, and is keeping busy with work. Bobby has a play date planned for Friday afternoon, and a birthday party to attend on Saturday. And, the most exciting part is, we'll be getting a visit from my brother and his family tomorrow! They are driving over for the day from Atlanta. His kids have Spring Break this week. On top of all of that, the weather is gorgeous!

I hope everyone has a great rest of the week!

Bobby's First Easter

Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die."
John 11: 25-26

Happy Easter!

Love, the Ross Family

Bobby in his Easter best.

"Ok mom, so what is this? And, what am I supposed to do with it?"

Bobby intently watching his Build-a-Bunny getting stuffed, at our neighborhood festivities.

"Ah! I don't know about real characters coming to life!"

Not so fond of the Easter bunny!

Flashback Friday

It was almost one year ago...
When we headed out west to Tacoma, Washington for one last shin-dig, pre-Bobby.

Who would've thought we'd be parents 3 days after returning home?

Bob and I, April 2009 with the Puget Sound in the background.

For more on Bobby's early delivery, go here.
