I have a question for all the moms out there... what type of routine, if any, have you used with your newborn/infant? I have read a couple of books on the subject, and am just curious what other moms (and dads too) have done. We are not on any routine really, as of yet. The pediatrician said to wait until his due date, at the earliest, to start anything. As of now, I am feeding Bobby on demand. On average, he eats every 3 hours, sometimes 4.
Also, this is a random question, but do you change the diaper before each feeding, or after? I seem to change it up every time.
How long did you wait before you took your baby to the grocery store? Did anyone else lack the confidence to take the baby out alone? So far, I've just taken him on a walk by myself. Tomorrow we go to the pediatrician alone. I'm not nervous though, the office is very close to our house.
Finally, here's a cute picture taken today of Bobby. Look at him holding his own pacifier!

Best picture ever! I can't wait to see him, I'm counting down the days!!!!
He's growing up! So cute!
a routine will come when you least expect it you will be use to doing everything . Christopher ate every 2-3 hours so your lucky on that i changed him after usually depending on if he was sleeping or if he was wet before then before i changed it up daily pretty much. I dont think i went to the grocery store alone until he was around 3-4weeks b/c he was so small justlike yours is. and i always had a blanket over his car seat so that noone could see him or stuff get in untilhe was a lil bigger but it was also cooler out then it is now but i did go for the outside walks alone hope it helps
He is just too cute! His little hands are adorable!
AWwwwwww.....he is so adorable!!!!
Ok, first, don't stress....
As he grows, he will let you know what he needs....change him when he is dirty (unless, I agree with the above, he is sleeping)diapers these days keep them very dry!! (not like in the old days!!)
I didn't really have a firm routine with Cam until he was 1 1/2-2 yrs old. That was when I made set nap times (mostly to give me a break)
Enjoy him, sleep when he sleeps, and the more relaxed you are--the more relaxed he will be!! :)
Jen,
I don't think I remember when I started taking Madelyn to the grocery as I can never seem to master the groceries and putting her in the car without worrying about strangers...whenever you do start, let the employees help you so you can worry about Bobby instead of loading the car! You are doing great! He is too cute!
I'm not a mom yet, so I don't have any answers! But, I did leave you something on my blog!
Have a great weekend!!
jen send me that picture-he is so cute- mom
For me, taking ETC out by myself was like planning for a 5 day trip. I had to schedule it in between feedings, make sure I had everything in the diaper bag, get him in and out of the car seat in the middle of June heat. It is nothing like Florida here. In Florida you have the breeze coming off the sea so it was never as muggy and humid. We lived in Cape Coral for 3 years. Sorry, off topic.
Ethan was never on a routine per se. He woke up every 4 hours or so to eat during the night. Once Matt and I had dinner, we would give E his bath and put on his jammies. Then, he would hang out in the bouncy seat for awhile until he fell asleep.
I hope some of this helps you.
Your next venture out should be here so we can all ooo and ahhh over his little precious self.
